Admitted to practice in Illinois and Massachusetts, Jeff began his career at a Midwest-based general law partnership. His legal experience proceeded to include:
Serving as in-house counsel to a privately-held machine tool manufacturer and industrial supply company with worldwide operations.
Practicing as a commercial real estate and licensing attorney in the corporate law department of the largest publicly-traded Chicago-area food and drug retailer, which promoted him to the position of New England Regional Counsel, serving in the Boston-area as Vice President and General Counsel. Jeff had total legal responsibility for Star Market Co., Osco Drug, Brigham’s Ice Cream and White Hen Pantry Franchisors, and Mass Feeding (school lunch) Company. He also helped found Starís wholesale food supply division.
Engaging in specific areas of practice, including regulatory and licensing, security, permitting, real estate leasing and purchases, employment and labor law with particular emphasis on representing management in various teamster and other bargaining units; also managing outside attorneys in litigation, environmental, anti-trust and other specialized practice areas.
Returning to private practice in the Boston-area after the parent corporation was acquired by a competitor. Jeff has served as a named partner in two business practice law firms, most recently Sager & Schaffer LLP. Jeff continues to have close working relations with his former partners, Pamela and Steven Sager, whose practice also concentrates in business law.
